training and health stuff (i need a good title for these updates)

i forgot to mention in my last post that i have lost 8.9% of my total body weight (since october)!

so, i finally met my first goal! haha. i’m pretty excited. i actually wrote out a blog a few weeks ago with this announcement, but accidently deleted it! it was probably best, because i had gained a few pounds and was only at that weight for about 2 days. but, i am happy to report i have been at my pre baby weight for about 4 days now! i’m hoping this fast will help me with achieving the rest of my goals.

i also quit my 10K training program and moved to a 5K training program. it’s more suitable for my schedule right now. the 10K workouts were getting to be 65-75 minutes long and i ended up quitting early each day. so now i’m doing a 9 week 5K program and it is going really well. the first two days have been extremely easy since i had worked my way up to jogging 30-40 minutes (and getting in 3 miles). i’m trying to concentrate on my jogging technique as well as picking up speed.

so far my fast is going really well. yesterday was tough as i had some side effects: headaches, cravings, and fatigue. it’s my fault for quitting cold turkey. you really shouldn’t go 100% raw at first, but i knew if i didn’t i would just cheat. i am going to continue this fast for at least three more days and then add in some fish and chicken for dinner.

on tuesday nights, dane and i alternate meeting with friends for discipleship and fellowship. last night was his night with logan. which was great since i wasn’t feeling myself. since i didn’t have to make him dinner (dane hasn’t joined me on the diet yet) i decided i would have one of the raw dessert recipes. i have heard about it numerous times, but have never had all the ingredients.

Chocolate Avocado Pudding

  1. 1 diced avocado
  2. 1/4 c cocoa powder (or to taste)
  3. 1/4 c agave nectar (or to taste)
  4. 2 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1/4 tsp sea salt
  6. 1/2 c water (recipe i used called for 1/4 c, but i found this to be too little for me)

add avocado, cocoa powder, agave, vanilla, and salt into a blender. slowly add in water while blending to help mix everything. no need to chill, but i put mine in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

it was a little too sweet for me so i will prolly cut back on agave or just add more water as the consistency was still pretty thick.

there are tons of recipes out there for it, though so i might try another one.
